CEC was selected to survey a highly urban stretch of roadway for the purpose of providing a very detailed topographic survey for streetscape design. Since this survey required a high level of detail, CEC utilized mobile LiDAR data collection to supplement conventional survey services. This project had multiple challenges in which one was the amount of parked vehicles and traffic throughout the day. CEC overcame this challenge by utilizing overnight LiDAR data collection methods to minimize the amount of traffic and parked vehicles. This also allowed the field crews to provide additional survey in a safer manner by reducing the amount of surveying needed within the actual roadway. The ability to merge conventional surveying methods with LiDAR technology allows CEC Surveying and Mapping the ability to provide a high level of detail their clients require.
