 We are searching for a experienced professional who can motivate and lead a team in our Survey Department.

 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Researches previous survey evidence, maps, deeds, physical evidence, and other records to obtain data needed for surveys.
  • Performs field survey activities in accordance with standards set by the company, state statutes and the surveying industry.
  • Operates and has knowledge of GPS functions and capabilities.
  • Records the results of surveys including the shape, contour, location, elevation, and dimensions of land or land features.
  • Verifies the accuracy of survey data including measurements and calculations conducted at survey sites.
  • Writes descriptions of property boundary surveys for use in deeds, leases, or other legal documents.
  • Plans daily activities considering possible multiple projects to meet productivity goals set by Department Manager or Practice Leader.
  • Trains crew members and directs their work in performing surveys.
  • Adheres to established company policies, follows all Survey and Mapping Practice procedures and ensures survey crew follows standard procedures.
  • Coordinates data and results of the work with Survey and Mapping office personnel, engineering personnel, clients, and others concerned with projects.
  • Fosters and maintains client relationships.  Helps pursue repeat or follow-up work with current clients.  Collaborates with Marketing and Business Development staff to respond to new business opportunities, including engaging in preparation of proposals, interviews and presentations.
  • Performs limited personnel functions, including performance management, mentoring and employee development.  Plans and schedules work for crews, ensuring the appropriate and effective distribution of assignments, manpower, and equipment for efficient performance of duties.  Reviews and approves timesheets for accuracy and completeness.
  • Complies with and ensures staff adheres to all safety policies, practices and procedures.
  • Maintains equipment and vehicle that is assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Oklahoma Professional Land Surveyor license.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to pass background check and pre-employment drug/alcohol testing.  Department of Transportation (DOT) sensitive positions subject to annual and random drug testing.
  • English language skills:  ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively to clients or CEC employees.
  • Mathematical skills:  ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Reasoning skills: ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Proficient personal computer skills.  Proficiency with Microsoft Office, MicroStation, Trimble, AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or GEOPAK preferred.
  • Organizational skills:  ability to prioritize and organize tasks; ability to handle multiple clients and tasks simultaneously; ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Heavy physical activity performing strenuous day activities of a primarily productive/technical nature.  Intermittently, sedentary physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities of an administrative nature.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items, work with the fingers, and perceive attributes of objects and materials.  Ability to manipulate computer mouse up to eight hours a day when working in office.
  • Ability to stand and walk up to ten hours per day.  Intermittently, ability to sit up to eight hours per day.
  • Ability to traverse uneven terrain and climb over or crawl under obstacles.  Ability to occasionally bend, crouch or stoop.
  • Ability to hear and talk to communicate and give verbal direction.
  • Ability to see clearly 20 inches or less and 20 feet or more; ability to identify and distinguish colors; ability to adjust focus; depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships).
  • Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Outdoors exposed to changing weather conditions (rain, sun, snow, wind, etc.), dust, dirt, cuts, bites, or stings.
  • Well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor office/production setting with adequate ventilation.
  • Moderate noise.
  • Requires use of protective and/or safety equipment. 

WORK SCHEDULE

  • Monday through Friday normally; occasional weekend work may be required.
  • Flexible schedule with extended hours may be required.
  • Occasional overnight travel
